Jefferson's Poplur Forest (Camp David)

This was where Jefferson and his wife spent time when the needed to "get away". He was really into octagon shapes ... notice this building again has 8 sides. FYI ... it takes lots less bricks when building this shape. The wing to the right of the house was for the kitchen, smoke house etc.
Not sure you can see it ... but Jefferson had slaves remove the dirt behind the house ... this was a European style. The 'hills' at either end of the buildings is where they placed the dirt. Note the stairs going down into the lawn.

They believe that these trees existed while Jefferson owned the house.
Inside the house they are going to leave half of the rooms in their unfinished state to demonstrate building methods.

Note the external 'corner' bricks.

This was the privy ... commonly known as an "Out House". It was located behind the 'hills'.
