Philadelphia Portrait Gallary

These portraits are located in the U.S. Second National Bank building. They are owned by the City of Philadelphia; however, run by the National Park Service. We took a docent tour ... she was wonderful.

This is a MUST DO ... you can take photos, with or without flash and walk right up to the pictures. The quality is magnificant.

They say this was Jefferson's favorite portrait. Note, it is the only known portrait that gives him red hair.

This statue is made of wood. I would never have know by looking.

This first picture of Lafayette is when he was in his 30's. The second he was much older. Again, who would have guessed.

You've got to read about this guy ... he is the person that "wrote" the Declaration of Independence" that was signed.

Italian Market

We walked this market ... it was very big with lots of fresh produce.

The "Barnes Museum"

The "Barnes" is unlike any Art Museum I've ever visited. I encourage you to go to the "BarnesFoundation.com" and find out more about this unusual display. This is a World Class Museum located in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Just unbelievable!

BIG Tree ... Very BIG Tree

Yes, that's me standing next to the tree ... it had never been trimmed ... talk about big ... at first I thought it was a pine of some sort ... it wasn't!

Tree Named for Benjamin Franklin

This tree was named by William Bartram the famous Botanist for his good friend "Ben". We were advised by a ranger at the "Portrait Galary" that there were not many of these trees left. When we went to the "Barnes Art Museum" there were two of them in the front. Here they are...
