Jamestown

We took a walking tour of the grounds with this Senior Archaeologist. He was FANTASTIC! He was part of the PSB series on Jamestown ... really knew his stuff to say the least. The next two pics ... holding beads found in the current dig site ... they believe the dig to be the original well ... they expect to get a million plus of artifacts from this dig.

Holding a "Shell" bead ...
Holding a "Quartz" bead...

This is how they built the walls. The wooden stacks are angled up towards the outside of the fort. These reenacted walls are OVER the original post holes ... so they are accurate.

Housing on original site...
How it was built ... they went to England to discuss possible structure formats...

This is the dig of the original well. When the well went dry ... they used it for trash ... that's why so many artifacts to be found.
There are many visible artifacts in the ground ... see what you can find.

This tomb lid belongs on the following grave site. The grave was robbed and they found the lid about 20 feet away.

Notice the hole in the side of the bricks ... robbery ... they also found many graves here ... however they are ready to put the dirt back into place ... no more digging here. They aren't ready ...

This church has been rebuilt several times ... the front tower is original and was built in the 1600's.

Pocahontas Tribute

Trees on the site ... outside the Jamestown settlement.

Doesn't it look like an animal is ready to crawl up the trunk?

Yes, this is me in front of "John Smith"
